Application Information for a Student VISA (F-1)

Thank you for your interest in attending Mitchell Community College in Statesville, North Carolina, as an F-1 student.

Mitchell Community College (MCC) is a two-year college fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Associate in Arts Degree, the Associate in Science Degree, and the Associate in Fine Arts Degree. These degrees can be transferred to a four-year college or university as the first two years of a four-year Bachelor’s Degree. We also offer the Associate in Applied Science degree, which is a technical training option designed to make students job-ready at the completion of the degree.

The following are links to important forms necessary to request an I-20 from the INS. Please read each form carefully. Fill out all the required forms accurately and include a notarized copy of your affidavit of support when you mail the information. Letter of Financial Support. (Essential information needed to apply for an I-20)

Please note that to be accepted to the college, you must submit an official transcript from your high school plus any college you have attended. Mitchell requires that students have a high school diploma or GED before enrolling in a course of study.

In order to provide time for the I-20 to be issued, Mitchell will need to receive your application, transcripts, TOEFL scores, and proof of financial support by the following dates:

For Fall Semester Admission: June 1
For Spring Semester Admission: November 1
For Summer Semester Admission: March 1

INS guidelines are that students may enter the U.S. not more than 30 days prior to the beginning of the first academic term. In order to complete the admission process, you will need to arrange for the College Placement Test (CPT) administered at MCC daily at 9:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. The placement test takes approximately two hours and carries no charge. The purpose of this assessment is to determine placement in math, English, and reading courses.
