Course Descriptions

Auto Dealer Six-Hour Continuing Education
Mitchell Community College offers online continuing education for independent auto dealers. This six-hour class fulfills the annual state requirement for auto dealers renewing their license. Use Auto Dealer Registration Form for this course.

Auto Emissions Certification
Mitchell offers the required eight-hour Auto Emissions Certification class to become a licensed auto emission/OBD inspector or renew this certification in North Carolina. Instruction focuses on NC Division of Motor Vehicle regulations, inspection procedures and proper use of diagnostic equipment. The class prepares you for the DMV certification exam administered in conjunction with the class. A valid driver's license is required. Bring a completed copy of DMV form LT-310 to class.

Auto Safety Certification
If you want to become a licensed Vehicle Safety Inspector in North Carolina or renew an existing license, this eight-hour course is required. Instruction focuses on NC Division of Motor Vehicle regulations, inspection procedures and proper use of diagnostic equipment. The class prepares you for the DMV certification exam administered in conjunction with the class. A valid driver's license is required. Bring a completed copy of DMV form LT-310 to class. 

Escort Vehicle Certification
Get certified for oversized/overweight vehicle escorts. The initial eight-hour course consists of defensive driving, escort driver requirements, skills training and an exam at the end of the course. Certificates will be valid for four years from the date of issuance. 

Escort Vehicle Recertification
Renew your North Carolina escort vehicle certification through this four-hour recertification course.

Truck Driver Training

Get qualified to take the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) exam and become employable by commercial trucking firms. Financial assistance may be available.
