Dual Enrollment opportunities are available to high school, home school,
and private school students who are 16 years of age or older and are enrolled
in their high school at least ½ time. These classes are offered free
of tuition. Students take these classes at times that will not interfere
with their regular high school schedule, usually in the evenings, on weekends,
or during the summer. Students receive college credit but do not typically
receive high school credit for these courses.
Math, science and technical courses can be taken as Dual Enrollment. Developmental
courses and courses with these prefixes, ACA, ANT, ART, ASL, COM, DRA,
ECO, ENG, FRE, GEO, GER, HIS, HUM, MUS, PED, PHI, POL, PSY, REL, SOC,
and SPA
are not available for Dual Enrollment. Students must meet all prerequisites
and placement test
requirements. Students are not eligible to register
for dual enrolled courses during Early Registration.
If you are interested in taking a dual enrolled course, obtain a Dual Enrollment
Form from MCC or from your high school counselor. Complete the form and
have your principal sign it, giving you permission to take dual enrolled
courses.
You should take the college
placement test well in advance of registration
day.
Call (704) 878-3200 in Statesville or (704) 978-5417 in Mooresville to
