The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 provides safeguards regarding the confidentiality of and access to student records. This Act will be adhered to by Mitchell Community College.
No records shall be made available to unauthorized personnel or groups outside the College without the written consent of the student involved, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure with consent or under legal compulsion.
Directory information, which includes a student's name, address, date and place of birth, field of study, dates of attendance, and degrees and awards received may be released by the College without consent of the student. Any student who wishes to withhold any or all of this directory information from release must notify the registrar in writing within three weeks of the date of the student's initial enrollment.
