What is Social Distancing?

Social distancing is a public health safety action practiced by our community members to reduce the transmission of any communicable disease, including COVID-19.

Social distancing requires personal awareness and mindfulness of your situation, judging for yourself what distance is safe for your specific situation and those around you.

Here are key elements of effective social distancing:

  • Practicing good hygiene

  • Avoiding those who display symptoms of illness

  • Attempting to keep a distance of six feet from the nearest person

  • Avoiding optional large gatherings
