Summer Sample Classes

Try something new this summer! These courses are offered for 3 weeks in June 2024 to learn, grow and expand while developing new skills.

Culinary

June 11th through June 27th – Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Join Chef Bob this summer in learning how to create culinary delights! This class is for rising 4th through 8th
graders and will focus on teaching age-appropriate cooking and baking options while instilling safe kitchen
practices. Our young chefs will be hands-on in the cooking and baking process and leave with some special
treats. (cost: $71.25)

June 12th through June 26th – Wednesdays from 1 p.m. -3:30 p.m.

From meal planning to preparation to cleaning, this class will cover cooking and baking skills and safety in a fun
and supportive environment. Intended for individuals with special needs ages 15 and up, this hands-on class will
help advance each student’s kitchen skills to the next level. One Personal Care Assistant (PCA) or a one-on-one
occupational assistant is welcome to join students without additional fee. (cost: $51.25)

Industrial Manufacturing

June 11th through June 27th – Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Intrigued by welding technology and want to have a safe place to try out construction and fabrication skills using
modern welding equipment? This 3-week course focuses on hands-on introductory skills with a safety mindset.
This is a great opportunity to step lightly into the field or try your hand at your welding skills. Age 16 and over.
(cost: $71.25 plus safety equipment ~$99)

Civic Engagement & Artistic Expression

June 11th through June 27th – Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon.


Explore the intersections of rhetoric, anthropology, and philosophy through the lens of hip-hop music. This
dynamic six-week course will delve into the rich cultural tapestry of hip-hop, using iconic songs and verses to
analyze themes of identity, social justice, and existential inquiry. Through engaging discussions, creative
activities, and critical analysis, students ages 15 to 18 will gain a deeper understanding of contemporary society.
(cost: $82.50)
