Mitchell donates to local relief effort
In an effort to help neighbors in need, Mitchell Community College is donating twenty College shirts to the American Red Cross’s relief efforts for the Woodscape apartments fire victims. A Monday morning fire at the Woodscape apartments on Farm Pond Lane, east Charlotte left 130 people homeless. Charlotte Fire Department said the fire was set intentionally.
“We are here to serve the community, no matter how near or far,” said Dr. Tim Brewer, Mitchell’s president, “Whether we are providing clothing for a family in need or the skills and credentials needed to obtain a better career, our mission is to meet the needs of our community.” The shirts were donated from the College’s Bookstore, the Student Government Association and the Mitchell Alumni Association.
