Center for Simulation Education Mission, Vision and Values


The mission of the Mitchell Community College Center for Simulation is to provide high quality, evidence based educational experiences in a dynamic and diverse learning environment.


Vision Statements 

The Mitchell Community College Center for Simulation aims to:

  • Provide a safe simulated environment for learning to promote clinical competence

  • Integrate inter-professional scenarios to enrich multidisciplinary learning

  • Provide an interactive environment to assess and evaluate the student’s skill acquisition in the knowledge, psychomotor and affective domain

  • Promote client safety and quality healthcare through problem solving and clinical decision making.

  • Examine evidence-based practice leading to improvement in client outcomes

  • Function effectively within inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, caring behaviors, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality client care

  • Utilize information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision making.



The Center for Simulation Education values are consistent with Mitchell Community College’s beliefs Mitchell Community College Mission, Vision, and Beliefs including having a responsibility to enhance the quality of life of our community. Simulation is utilized to assist participants to excel in their clinical experiences. Using scenarios that progress from simple to complex, participants get hands-on experience to simulate clinical practice. The Center for Simulation Education provides an interactive environment where participants are encouraged to ask questions and participate in active, hands-on learning. Simulation is used to assess and evaluate the participant’s skill acquisition, and ease the transition between lab and clinical practice. CSE utilizes Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory, whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. Simulation scenarios mimic the practice learning environments and assist the participant in developing problem solving and decision making skills which will enhance their lifelong learning process.
